Anonymous Folles, time of Basil II & Constantine VIII, circa 976-1025. Follis (Bronze, 29 mm, 7.49 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. [+ЄMMANOVHΛ] Nimbate bust of Christ facing, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. +IҺSЧS / XRISTЧS / bASILЄЧ / bΑSILЄ in four lines. DOC Class A2. SB 1813. Heavy traces of overstriking and with minor corrosion, otherwise, very fine.

This coin was overstruck on a follis of Nicephorus II Phocas (DOC 7. SB 1783), with considerable parts of the undertype still visible (for e.g. parts of the obverse and of the reverse legend).
